Meet Our Medical Partner, Dr. Ray Strand

We are honored to have Dr. Ray Strand, one of the world's leading authorities on nutritional medicine, as Live Well International's Medical Partner. A graduate of the University of Colorado Medical School and family practice physician for over 30 years, Dr. Strand is also the author of several books, including What Your Doctor Doesn't Know About Nutritional Medicine, Death by Prescription and Healthy for Life.

With dozens of diets on the market, including low-carb and no-carb plans, liquid diets, appetite suppressant pills, and starvation, many people find that staying healthy losing weight is not an easy task. "The reason diets don't work is because they are a short-term solution for a long-term problem," Dr. Strand says. "When a patient of mine comes in and says, 'Dr. Strand, I'm going to go on such and such a diet,' the connotation is that sooner or later they're going to come off that diet. Medical literature supports the fact that over 98% of the time these diets fail."

Dr. Strand was inspired to develop his Healthy for Life program after watching his own patients' frustration and failure with these extreme diets, Dr. Strand also noticed that most of his patients were gaining weight – especially around the middle – as they got older, even when they thought they were eating right. They were also steadily increasing their risk for diabetes and other degenerative diseases with each passing year. He knew the secret to healthy bodies and healthy weight loss was to control blood sugar without depriving his patients of any of the major food groups.

Our Wellness Programs are modeled after Dr. Strand's extremely successful Healthy For Life Program that combines healthy, low-glycemic diet and cellular nutrition with a moderate exercise program. The healthy diet is composed of regular, natural foods that don't spike your blood sugar as well as high-quality supplements, meal-replacement shakes and snack bars.

The products used in our programs utilize the glycemic index, which is the way we absorb carbohydrates and how fast we absorb them. The products contain good, low glycemic carbohydrates, good fats, and good proteins in really delicious meal and snack replacements that allow a person to get out of glycemic stress, curb their carbohydrate cravings, and control their natural appetite," Dr. Strand says. "People learn to eat in such a way that they take in all these good, balanced nutrients at every meal. It's not only a healthy diet, but it helps us get out of this vicious cycle of spiking our blood sugar and dropping into what we call the low blood-sugar range, which sets off our stress hormones and leads to overeating."

By following the program, Dr. Strand believes you can finally break away from your unhealthy lifestyle. "It's a great change in your behavior.
